About the artist
Leslie Burns was born in 1975 in Florence, South Carolina. In 1999, she received her BA with concentrations in Photography and Sculpture from the College of Charleston, where she also minored in Biology. In 2011, she earned her MFA in Photography from Lamar Dodd School of Art at University of Georgia. Mrs. Burns has been an Instructor of Photography at University of Georgia, Trident Technical College, Redux Contemporary Art Center, and College of Charleston. Burns’ artwork has been exhibited internationally. Her work has been featured on Fotosavant.com, Lenscratch.com, OneOneThousand.org and The Hand Magazine. In June 2012, Burns was named as one of the “100 Under 100: The New Superstars of Southern Art” by Oxford American Magazine. Her work has been included in two of Christina Z. Andersons's books on Alternative Photographic Processes--one about Cyanotypes and one about Gum Printing. Currently, Ms. Burns resides in North Charleston, SC, and wrangles various critters.
